Top 5 Article Marketing Tips and Tricks

You have made the decision to do article marketing and have committed the time that is necessary to generate the content. Now what?

Here are my Top 5 Article Marketing Tips and Tricks

WRITE ONE REALLY LONG ARTICLE

For this step I write an article that is SO long that no one would ever sit and read it! It is actually long enough to be a mini-book or a report that I could send out for free to readers of my blog. I tend to throw everything in there that I think anyone could ever want to know about the topic and am not overly concerned with whether it makes sense as a whole article.

When I am done I pick it apart! I use bits and pieces of it to generate at least 10 additional articles by using the topics and content as a jumping off point. The main thing is to get LOTS down there so that you have a ton of ideas to work with!

WRITE ABOUT WHAT YOU KNOW

This for me is a key! If I am writing about marketing the words flow, if I am writing about photography or another topic, I have to do more research and that takes time. I can tell you this works for ANYTHING! I challenged my husband to give me a topic that could not be related to marketing in any way and he came up with toenails. Well one terrific blog post and a great story later I was able to talk about that subject easily.

(When I am writing an article about a topic I do not know in and out, I hire someone else to do the research and then "spin" the article in my voice.)

DO NOT WRITE A SALES LETTER ARTICLE

Remember that people do not like to be sold. When you are writing articles for marketing you should focus on providing quality content and information with your sales pitch or offer thrown in at the end! Once you have established that you know what you are talking about it is much easier to get someone to click on a link at the end of your article.

MAKE SURE TO HAVE YOUR KEYWORDS IN YOUR ARTICLE TITLE AND CONTENT

This blog post is about article marketing. I have those keywords sprinkled liberally through (but not too much) so that the search engines can figure out how to categorize my post. Then I use the target keyword at the end of this post to link to my main site that I want you to visit. DO NOT use your company name or your name to link to your site, USE YOUR KEYWORDS!

Also, make sure that you use your keyword or keyword phrase at least once, if not twice, in the first paragraph of the article. This is super important to getting your point across to the search engines.

DO NOT GET HUNG UP ON WRITING A GREAT ARTICLE

I would say this is the number one reason article marketers fail. They work SO hard at getting the spelling and grammar right that they never publish anything. Let me tell you, I have written over 10,000 words on the internet and have only had about three emails come to me that said I had misspellings or bad addition. The rest of the time people are more worried about how what I tell them can help that they are not playing the grammar police and "dinging" me for bad punctuation.

AND I have a much better chance of someone reading my okay article or post that is published than anyone who is still writing their article and busy checking it for perfection!
